Oakley School (OS) is a top college preparatory school in Utah that performs the role of an educator and motivator. In OS, students are taught of quality education and moral values that are attuned to the needs of the present times. Besides these aspects, Oakley school makes it a point to inspire each of their students to reach greater heights, whether in academics or in their personal goals, for them to be successful in their future endeavours.

In order to accomplish the school’s philosophy, mission, and goals, Oakley School created a social model that served as their guide in the educating process. Factors such as structured programs, procedures, student responsibility, and learning environment were clustered together to form the social and therapeutic theme of the institution. It’s needless to say that through the said model, Oakley School was able to attain more than their set goals and aspirations.

The social model of Oakley School technically taps both the academic and moral values of students. In the said model, the students were provided with structured academic programs in the corresponding academic hours per day. This is no different than the usual study hours of the students in order schools because it is only through study hours that the students can focus with their lessons. What makes the model stand out from the rest is the management’s leniency towards the students where the students themselves can decide on how they want to spend their time or what extra-curricular activities they wish to take. Taking this position, Oakley School therefore just guides or leads the students towards their goal and not the other way around.

Since the Oakley School is regarded as a college preparatory school, their main offerings therefore are subjects, activities, and other courses of a higher level. Given their social model, students in Oakley School are immersed in a “hands-on” learning environment through the help of the dedicated teachers and other school support groups.

The curriculum in Oakley School varies on the level the students are in. These curriculum, moreover, are tailored fit on the intellectual capability and needs of the students so as to address the needs of the student for college preparation. It must be noted that the curriculum contains a full set of courses or subjects, honor subjects (for those exceptional academic performers), and advanced placement courses.

Classes in Oakley School are divided in two semesters per year plus an additional session for the summer. The daily schedules, on the other hand, are plotted in four weekdays from 9am-4pm. Students are likewise required to have a laptop in all of their classes.

The school community in Oakley School is deemed not only as a place for learning but also as place for self-development. At Oakley School, students are treated a part of the family who lives in a house and has a set of responsibilities and tasks to perform. Besides these, the students are likewise expected to conform with the following elements: honor code, code of conduct, form system, house and school-wide meetings, student government, and job assignments.

Oakley School also takes part in the athletic aspirations of the students as these not only develop their skills but also their social values. Athletic offerings at Oakley vary from individual to team sport, each with a set difficulty level. To promote these athletic programs, all students are required to take at least one sport per season.
